A quick google search of M.A.D. Nails (named for Dixon’s initials) exposes her modesty. In New Orleans she was already a nail star before Claws came calling. “Morgan is, hands down, the best nail ARTIST there is in NOLA. Maybe even the South,” one client raved on the salon-booking platform StyleSeat in 2016.

Behind all the acrylics and gel and press-on and polish is Morgan Dixon, 28, who started as a nail technician on the first season and now runs the show’s nail department. She and three other artists make all costume decisions relating to fingers and toes — ostensibly the main characters’ stock-in-trade.

MORGAN DIXON (Lead Nail Artist): There's a lot of moving parts in terms of the cast having to try on their specific looks and some things might work for them, some things might not. My job as the nail designer is to make multiple looks really that I just could see working with the episode at hand.

Because of the sheer amount of work, lead nail stylist Morgan Dixon and her team prepare all of the nails in advance, ready to pop on or switch out at any time. "We always try to have some backups ready just so we can throw them on in-between takes if need be," Dixon said.
